Message from the Exalted Ruler

Elks pictureGolf season is upon us. I’d like to congratulate Chris “Tiger” Clegg and Normy “Shark” Williams on their miraculous hole-in-ones. What a great way to start off the golf season. I would also like to congratulate Gia Clark, daughter of PER John Clark, for winning the regional division of the soap box derby. Gia is on her way to nationals in Akron, Ohio. Lastly I would like to congratulate Bill Bromley for winning the Queen of Hearts raffle. Bill took home almost $7,000 after taxes. Our Q of H committee has placed the new deck so get your tickets now.

The month of July is going to be a very busy one. On July 1st, we will have another initiation at our regular lodge meeting. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm and initiation at 7:00. It is always nice to have a full house to welcome our new members.

On July 4th, there is the Morristown parade celebrating the birth of our great nation. The children of our local communities always look forward to the Ogdensburg Elks making their way through the parade. Help is needed for this day. We will be throwing candy for the kids and handing out Drug Awareness coloring books. If you would like to help please speak to PER Joe Spriggs for carpooling info. As many of you know, Nancy and I will be leaving on July 4th for the Elk’s National Convention in Anaheim. Therefore, we will be unable to attend the parade. It would be great to have a nice crowd of Elks to show the patriotism of our order and our commitment to our communities.

On July 6th, the Lodge will be holding a fundraiser breakfast for Gia Clark. Proceeds will help defray the costs of
travel, registration, and lodging in Akron. Good luck Gia, we will all be rooting for you. Due to a scheduling conflict, our movie night will be held on July 13th this month. The movie will be “Zathura”. Bring the kids in to watch it on the big screen and for free popcorn and soda. The movie starts at 6:00pm.

On July 26th the Club will be holding an ER night. There will be snacks on the bar and drink specials all night. This is a way for me to say thanks for being a member of the best Fraternal Organization in the world. I hope you can stop in and join us for the night.

Lodge activities coordinator, Joe Ramie, is planning a camp out night on August 16th for children of our Stuart Rishe, ERLodge members. There will be swimming, ball games, a BBQ dinner, camping, roasting marshmallows, and breakfast. Watch for further details and a sign up sheet on the bulletin board at the Lodge.

If you haven’t paid your 2008-09 dues yet please see our Secretary Jenn Bell. She will be sending out late notices shortly.
Don’t forget to make your donation to the Elks National Foundation. This is a great cause that is given back two fold to the youth of our communities. A donation for as little as ten dollars can make a difference.

I sincerely hope everyone has a great summer and I hope to continue to see you around the lodge.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Stuart Rishe
