Message from the Exalted Ruler

Hello Brothers & Sisters,

The annual Hoop Shoot was held on January 8th at the OFA gym and was a great success with a number of local kids advancing to the District Hoop Shoot in Potsdam. We are very proud to announce that the following kids won their age class and will represent our Lodge as they move on! The winners are Brogan LaRose, Cale Sargent, Jacqueline Storrin and Molly Williams.

On January 21 the lodge sponsored a "Red Solo Cup" party with the intention that the proceeds were to go to a charity within the community. Unfortunately just before the party PER John Clark was the victim of a house fire and it was decided that some of the proceeds should be given to John to help defray some of the replacement costs of this tragedy. A special thank you to Bartender Connie Neuroth and all her helpers for making the Red Solo Cup party a great success, with everyone having a great time.

Super Bowl Party 2012 is scheduled to start Sunday February 5th at 4 pm. with food and cocktails, the game will start about 6 pm. Stop down and have some great food and have a great time with friends.

Tuesday, February 7th will be PER night. Cocktails will be at 5 pm followed by dinner at 6 pm and the Lodge meeting and Initiation of new members will be at 7 pm. Please stop down to meet the new members, make them feel welcome and have a good time.

The members of the PER Association has purchased 10 new bar stools to replace older ones in the bar room. They will be arriving soon.

Due to health reasons our kitchen manager, Sandy Jetke, has decided that she will be retiring in the very near future. Thank you Sandy for all your years of service and dedication. We all wish you the very best in your retirement and hope you will continue to frequent the Lodge.

A bowling tournament will be held on February 12th to raise funds for the Elks National Foundation. ENF helps our Lodge to provide scholarships, community events, children's events and local support for our Veterans. There will be two shifts, 12 and 3, teams consist of 5 people and the cost is $75 per team. Prizes will be awarded to the top scoring teams and 50/50 raffles will held and you will be able to “buy a strike!” Signups are being taken at the alleys! Get your team in today.

The annual Daytona 500/ Wild Game Feed will be held on February 26th, race coverage starts at noon. Come out and enjoy the beginning of the NASCAR season and cheer-on your favorite driver. If you have any game or fish you would like to donate, please have it thawed and bring it with you.
