Message from the Exalted Ruler

Well, the children are off to school and diligently working on their studies. This is a great time of year to remind ourselves of our Orders dedication to the youth of our communities. Through the Boys and Girls Scouts, Youth Activities, Soccer Shoot, Hoop Shoot, Scholarship Programs, the Dictionary Project, Drug Awareness and many other programs, we make a tremendous impact on many young children’s lives.

On Sept. 24th PER Gerry Reed and PSVP George Kotz delivered 285 dictionaries to all third grade children in our jurisdiction. I thank them for their continued devotion to this program.

Are you ready for some football?

Join us Monday nights starting at 6pm for Monday Night Football!

Pizza and wings!

Friends and fun!

On Sunday, Sept. 7th our Lodge held its annual Soccer Shoot which was well attended by both participants and Elks. The winners of this shoot will have home field advantage as we host the District Soccer Shoot on Sunday Sept. 28th. This will be followed by a lunch buffet at the lodge. Much help is needed. Please sign up at the Lodge.

Stuart Rishe, EROn Sept. 2nd our District Deputy Scott Hirst and SVP William Venton visited our Lodge for their annual review. Our Kitchen Manager Sandy and her help provided us with a wonderful dinner. The inspection went very well. Thank you very much to all of you who helped in preparation for this visit.

Our membership drive is doing well. I congratulate and thank each member who is participating in our strive to increase our constituency. PER Joe Spriggs is still in the lead with three new or reinstated members. Don’t forget about the $100, $50, & $25 gift certificates given to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place respectively. Every member who proposes three new members will also receive a special recognition pin from the Grand Exalted Ruler and will be entered into a drawing to win a cruise. Please don’t hesitate to ask a friend, relative, or co-worker to join our great organization. Tell them about all the wonderful things we do for our community and the relaxing atmosphere at our club. I would like to see 100% participation from our officers to bring in at least one new member each. This drive is critical to our Lodge and our Order as a whole. Applications are readily available at the club.

On Sept. 18th Leading Knight John Bresett and I traveled to White Plains, NY for the NYS Elks fall conference. It was a great opportunity for us to attend workshops and learn more about the great programs that we participate in. We were able to meet with hundreds of wonderful people all dedicated to the same noble causes. It was interesting to learn about the inner workings of the many programs during the day and then discuss with fellow Elks how they apply these programs to their specific Lodge. This conference was very informative and relaxing. I was proud to represent our Lodge and tell everyone about the wonderful things we do at Ogdensburg Elks Lodge #772.

Elks pictureOn Nov. 1st Watertown Lodge #496 will host a dinner in honor of Past State President Nelson Navarra. I have only known Nelson for the last few years but it is easy to see how his dedication and tireless efforts through the years have made such a great impact on our Order. Through these last few years while I have been an officer I have developed a great deal of respect for Nelson. I hope to see a great turnout from our Lodge. Anyone interested in attending please contact me.

Finally, I would like to thank all who have participated in making our Lodge stronger. I have had many compliments this year about our Lodge and I thank each of you for making it and myself look good.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Stuart Rishe
